[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.
The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.
"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
Probably.
[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

He rubs the back of his neck, smiling apologetically. And then he starts to think about getting tossed off the Enterprise, and all the times Aeryn has told him to shut up for his own good. "Uh, shouldn't be anything contagious, though. And one thing your tricorder won't pick up is the big honkin' Peacekeeper I brought onboard with me."
no subject
Because that is most definitely going in her notes.
"Peacekeeper?"
no subject
"Sure. Sit down, doc, I'll tell you the story about the boy from Oz," John says. "Once upon a time, he was just your average astronaut living at the turn of the 21st century, when all of a sudden he got sucked through a wormhole and spit out in the most distant parts of space. Upon arrival, he was shot up with this weird alien goo that allowed him to understand thousands, maybe millions of alien dialects. The goo, they said, contains micro-biological organisms that feed off of alien speech like ticks on a dog, processing that into words we puny humans can understand. Now that everyone's speaking the same language, one alien yells this, another yells that, and the boy from Oz gets thrown into the slammer with that."
He points at the dark-haired woman who's being seen to by Dr. McCoy. "The radiant Aeryn Sun, Peacekeeper commando, a Sebacean with a penchant for violence and a winning personality. You got dental on this boat? 'Cuz she'll knock the teeth right out of your head if the fancy strikes her. That's why I'm sitting over here." Whether he means he's keeping his distance out of self-preservation, or keeping an eye on Aeryn to make sure she doesn't lose it on anybody here, the doc's just going to have to wait and see.

Say that it has something to do with innate awareness of being talked about and insulted nearby.
Especially given John Crichton can't do anything small. Given the moving and the fact he's pointing at her.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with her sighting the one familiar face here -- the only person in the room who might have a clue what is going through her head; and why, especially right now -- while still waiting for Bones' machine to decide what she is. Which is, of course, why she raises her eyebrows sharply at looking over to find him pointing. Talking about her?
Making her roll her eyes toward the ceiling with a shake of her head, and just looks back at the man calling himself a doctor beside her.

Well, isn't today just turning into a fun excursion through the weird, wonderful and sometimes mildly terrifying. (We're blaming that incident with the sun earlier, don't feel bad, John.) "Well. I can assure you that should she try to knock anyone's teeth out our Security Chief will have things well in hand," Beverly says, opting to neatly sidestep the obviously touchy subject of McCoy's current patient. "In the meantime--do you have any known conditions other than the 'weird alien goo'?"
no subject
"Uh." He shakes his head, returning to the doctor. "No. No conditions. I was cleared for space by the best docs in Texas and Florida. But, uh. If anything does happen with Aeryn, let me handle her before you sic the Klingon warrior on her? I don't know if they'd kill each other or become best friends, but either option is terrifying."

The readings aren't out of line with what he's told her, though, and so she continues on with the biobed readouts. "I will do my best to let you know if there is a problem hopefully before Mr. Worf is called in, of course."
no subject
"Swings and roundabouts," he mutters aloud to himself. "How's it lookin', doc? Am I gonna make it?"

John's ready to see it with his own eyes.

He can't really blame them, though. He did come in seconds before the gun-wielding commando. He's itchy to get out and explore the ship, but maybe if he's a very good boy and he does all his chores just so, the captain will give the go ahead.
"Yeah, sure, I understand," he nods. "It can't be any worse than some of the stuff I've had done to me elsewhere."
no subject
She barely waits for an answer before hypoing his shoulder.
no subject
He doesn't exactly want to get into NamTar and all the other weirdness he's been through lately. He may never leave.
no subject
"You're right," she sighs. "Just let me know if you have any other run-ins with 'alien goo', all right?"
She smiles patiently.
no subject
"Will do, doc," he says, with all his Southern charm.
Just then, he can hear Aeryn's voice cutting through the room. It's not overly loud, but there's no mistaking the fierce, firm 'No!', followed by the sound of scuffling. John's on his feet in an instant, eyes darting over to where she currently has Bones in a hold.
"Dammit, I take my eyes off of her for one second," he mutters.

Dr. Crusher doesn't look happy about being held back, but she did give him her word that she would do what she could. John nods, taking two fast steps away from her and toward the kerfuffle.
"Thank you. We're done, right?" he asks, even though it's not like he's going to wait for the answer anyway. "Thanks, doc!"
And with that, he's off.
