[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.
The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.
"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
Probably.
[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]
Either!
He arrives at about the same time as Shotaro -- at Shotaro's insistence -- and though he tries not to look it, he's clearly nervous. He picks at his lip as he waits for his turn.

"I'm Doctor Beverly Crusher. There's no need to be nervous," she says, noting how Philip's picking at his lip. "This is just a scan, we're making sure there aren't any conditions among you we shouldn't ignore. It's harmless," she reassures, with a friendly look as she picks up the tricorder, readying it.
no subject
"Of course," he replies, taking a seat on the edge of the biobed, though he isn't really reassured. "That only makes sense. After centuries of medical advancement any number of ailments that would have been considered common nuisances in my time have likely been eradicated. Reintroduction could prove disastrous."
He's babbling to try and keep himself grounded.
no subject
There's not much that's outside the ordinary on him, though she is picking up a distinctly odd amount of energy given the size of the young man in the bed in front of her. "Hm," she hums. That's odd, she'll have to make another pass to be sure that much of it isn't due to the tricorder malfunctioning.

"Although as I'm sure you can see, I am in perfect health," he adds. "With so many others waiting their turn I wouldn't want to hold you up."

"Are you sure?" she asks, putting just the amount of stern in her voice that gets most crew members to 'fess up. "Your readings are not at all what I'd consider usual for someone in perfect health," she says.
no subject
After a moment of internal debate, he reaches out to grab the tricorder. "That aside, this device is most fascinating. What exactly is it monitoring?"
no subject
"In order to have you cleared medically, you are aware I need the truth from you."
no subject
Philip twiddles his thumbs, still avoiding eye contact, as he considers how best to answer that question. "There is no risk of contagion," is all he says.
no subject
"Why don't you let me decide that? Unless you're a medical professional," Beverly continues. "Now, since you obviously know something about the cause of the readings I'm getting, would you care to tell me?"
no subject
He'd hoped that voluntarily going along with the exam would ease any possible suspicions, but now he's starting to think he might have been better off trying to avoid it.
"As I told you before, I am in perfect health. That's the truth. Whatever oddity your device has picked up on is irrelevant to that."
no subject
Still. First there are people without medical clearance in her sickbay, and now there are closemouthed people without medical clearance. "Very well. I will still need to give you a broad-spectrum vaccination, just to be on the safe side," she says.

She may be quick with that hypospray, though, and momentarily forget to give Philip much of a warning. "Very good," she says.
"I can't think of anything else, but if you ever do desire to tell me your medical history pertaining to those readings, I'd be happy to hear it."
no subject
With a quick nod, and still avoiding eye contact, he gets to his feet.
no subject
"You're welcome."
