[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.
The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.
"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
Probably.
[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

Well.
That was new. Beverly blinked, and looked over to the woman on the biobed. "I'm...Doctor Beverly Crusher, Chief Medical Officer aboard the Enterprise," she says a little distractedly. "Of course it's working, I..." She sighs. "Let's move you to another bed, just to be sure."
no subject
"Yeah, and hopefully this one works or else we're going to have to tell the captain that the equipment is shot."
And he did not want to be there for that meeting.
no subject
"Well if I can be of any help, I'd be more than happy to. We can work around the biobed!"
no subject
"...Doctor McCoy, could you come over here please." She knew her equipment was in perfect working order before all these people showed up. But these were not normal readings by a long shot. "Are you seeing these readings like I am?"
no subject
"Stay here." It's meant for Trance.
He strolls over to Doctor Crusher's side. "You think I'd have sworn like that if I didn't?" He was asking this in a low whisper because god forbid people think they're incapable. Well... his outburst probably said that he was, but it didn't need to reflect on her. Look, he cares, okay? "What the hell is going on?"
no subject
Trance twirled a piece of hair and pretended to look bored while she franticly though of a way to get out of this. Why wouldn't they just give up? And now they were talking in low voices in a more secluded area. This was going great. Couldn't they just accept it and move on? Leave it to scientists to try and dissect the universe. Perhaps literally. Well, chances are this was bound to happen when she got killed. Which would happen sooner or later. With all the analytical systems on this ship they would come up with more readings than Andromeda. She loved Andromeda, but her expertise was in blowing things up, not scientific analysis,
whoops, misfire!
"Did you ask her if this is normal for her species?" she asks lowly, glancing back over at Trance.
no subject
He paused, glancing over at Trance for a second before looking back at Beverly. "The medical scanner didn't give me any feedback either. I thought the damn thing was broken, but if two of these biobeds are doing that, then maybe it is her." He paused again. "What if all these people read like that?"
no subject
"I really hope they don't," she murmurs, fingertips resting between her brows. "We could ask her again?"
no subject
Now he shot Trance a glare and then one back at Beverly. "If she is, we could try and threaten her with a quarantine. I don't want to let anyone out of the damn sickbay that we don't know isn't a danger and if she's reading like that, there's no telling what the hell she is."
no subject
She glanced back over at Trance, stepping back to the biobed on which she lay.
"Your scans are giving us some very strange information," she began. "You're not showing any vitals, but a core temperature of five thousand kelvin. Do you have any conditions that would explain those readings?"
no subject
"Um, well, it's not really a condition....or maybe it is a condition." Of existence. "I'm not going to hurt anyone, honest." Well, she probably wasnt going to hurt anyway, She'd try her best not to melt anyone and control her own core temperature.
"Do you have any theories...?" Trance had to ask. " I'll give you 20 questions. I'll answer yes or no." This was actually kind of fun. She hadn't had a chance to play like this in years. There wasn't that much chaos in this universe, well not as much as in her own, and when all of this dust settled she had no doubt things would go back to normal.
She'd enjoy the chaos while she could.
no subject
"Yeah, I have a question for you. How the hell would you like it if we put you up in quarantine because we can't figure out what the hell you are and you're not cooperating with us?"
Straight to the point, isn't he?
no subject
But he does have a point.
"If you won't explain to us why we're getting these readings then we may have to detain you for the safety of everyone aboard this ship," she continues.
The world literally turns around her :)
"You might want to shield your eyes. I don't want to hurt you."
She tilted her head down, closed her eyes and her glamor faded away into that of an orange dwarf star--a miniature one at that. She expanded, being careful to control her own heat and not melt anyone--or anything.
"I am the avatar of the Tarn Vedran sun. A star. " She didn't want trouble, but she as curious just how they intended to detain her.
LOL.
When Trance got off the table, he watched her carefully, not sure what to expect. Then she started to glow. No, set fire like a damn sun. Leonard shielded his eyes with his hand, attempting to peek through the cracks, but he couldn't keep his eyes open for too long. Too damn bright.
He swore under his breath. "Would you quit that, you're going to scare the rest of the damn patients!"
no subject
"Oh my. A...a star," she repeats, because as many things as she's heard during her time in this sickbay that doesn't even come close to routine. "How...may I ask how you...exist like this?" she asks, at something of a loss for words.
no subject
"Every celestial body has its avatar; stars, moons, black holes. We are a part of our true selves, created so we can more easily walk among you." And influence events, but Trance didn't say that part out loud.
no subject
"Why the hell didn't you tell us that before?"
Wow I am so sorry this took so long. ><
"Or am I wrong?"
Re: Wow I am so sorry this took so long. ><
"It was none of your business. Also, it's easier to guide others when they think they're like you." When you were this high up in the food chain, and everyone else was down below...how could anyone ever relate? So, she hid.
But, Dr. Crusher had a point. "You are correct, that is a possibility. Remember though, space is my natural environment. If I were to endanger you, it would be easy enough to rectify that." Trance had to trust they would think of the correct option, without providing them with a step by step guide.

"Aye." Trance fell into practiced Commonwealth mode, nodding to both of them. "I'll talk to the Captain as soon as I can. In the meantime, would it be possible to help out here?" She held up her hands. "As soon as the Captain clears us and you're all convinced that we're not going to shoot you or anything. If you need any help. Do you use medical nanobots?"
no subject
But her helping in the sickbay? That was something he might contest. Or would have on his Enterprise. His eyes flicked uncertainly from Trance to Dr. Crusher. He really hoped Beverly said no. But they could use the help, couldn't they?
