He appeared so close to the observation windows that the blur of stars was all he saw. From the riot of noise of the amphitheater to the gently rumble of conversation in Ten Forward in the space of a breath, and Archer in his best dress uniform. The nerves in his chest dropped - still squirming - into his empty stomach, and the words of his speech died on his lips.
The stars offered a glassy reflection of uniform and life behind him, and Archer followed the movement, turning on the spot. He dared not step further away from the glass, not ready to draw attention to himself until he had some idea of what it was he was stepping into. He spoke to his own shoulder, voice low:

His head hurt, he felt sick to his bones - not physically but emotionally, as though shock had begun to set in - and all he wanted was to be alone.
Alone, so that he could unclip his communicator from his belt and make a distress call.
He didn't get that far. ( Option 2 cont )
