[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments | Round #4
There had been many things Lieutenant Worf envisioned for himself upon his promotion to Chief of Security. Herding humanoid interlopers into organized groups and assigning them permanent residence aboard the Enterprise was, to say the least, not among them. After regrouping from their time at Alemar III, Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a number of new visitors for ship-wide access, which means it falls upon Worf's shoulders to assign them quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. He has gathered everyone in Ten Forward to impart this vital information.
As he has done this before, he has a speech prepared:
"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

"I will remain here to answer questions," Worf concludes. "And my team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."
The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.
[ooc: Open log for building CR with new roommates and meeting neighbors, "party post" style! Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is a post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions, and where we'll post more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there. If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP.]
As he has done this before, he has a speech prepared:
"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.
"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.
"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.
"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

He shakes his head.
"Wow, it's like I'm in a goddamn fairytale book right now." He stops himself short, managing to look every bit apologetic as he sincerely feels. Which, okay, is a lot less than your normal person, but he has no intentions to be rude. (It just ... sometimes kinda comes out.) "No offence.
"Are the rest of your royal family pirates too?"

"I'm sorry to hear that," Kennex says, and he means it.
Suddenly, his perspective is shifted a little. The girl's been through a lot and she still manages to be impossibly polite and friendly.
Shit has happened to him, and now look - he's a total grump.
"So uh ... what exactly do you pirate?"
no subject
"We came to Earth seeking the Greatest Treasure in the Universe," she stated brightly. "And we've nearly found it, too." Now that they had all of the Greater Powers, anyway. What timing this Q person had...

Because for some, that would be water.
Or maybe gold.
Or, in his world, advanced technology that could be manipulated for nefarious purposes.

He can tell a vague answer when it foggily tries to confuse him - and here, it's definitely confusing him.

She held up the PADD so he could see it. "We are over 100 light-years from Earth right now. And I believe the year on Earth was 2012 when I left it. According to this, it is the middle of the 26th century by that same calendar." So there was no chance of rescue from her crew. That was sad to think about. But, they were pirates. They had traveled through time and other dimensions before. Surely, Captain Marvelous would find a way.

Oh, man.
It is a good thing Kennex can't read people's minds or hear people's thoughts or he'd be cracking up at the name.
As it is, he rubs his face in frustration.
"Yeah," he says, a groan making its way out. "Someone told me about that. The time-travel thing. I'm a little beyond you - I'm from the year 2048 - but it's still not the 26th century."
Not by a longshot.

So she was a bit more subdued when she turned back to her roommate. "How about yourself, Mr. Kennex?" Even if he'd asked her not to, it still felt strange to address a veritable stranger by anything else.
"Forgive me, would you like some?" She reached for the teapot.

Even if it does sound a little over-formal. And frankly, reminds him of his old man.
(Though his father, like him, went by Det. Kennex most of the time.)
"Uh - no," he says, shaking his head. "Not much of a tea person, if I'm gonna be honest."

Well.
At least he didn't get stuck with a ... dragon or something.
"It depends. It's a little behind on spaceships like this one, but it's pretty technologically advanced."
And in some ways, this is not a good thing.
"But otherwise ... it's just like anyone else's Earth, I'll bet. People living in cities, going to school, going to work. There are markets and shops and cars.
"The cops do what they can to protect the people." There's a pause. "That's what I do."

"Well, that's probably because you probably stopped doing things to make 'em arrest you," he points out. Not that he even knows what kind of police force she's used to, or if they were in their rights to arrest her and her piratey family.

As it should.
Kennex is not going to outright admit that he's not sure what 'Super Sentai' and the 'Zangyack Empire' are, but the confusion is pretty clear on his face.
"So it's pretty clear we're from very different worlds. This is gonna be interesting."
