Keeping track of the seasons isn't always easy, but Steve knows the date here is for the end of March, and even if the calendar back home says "April" that still means one thing.

Baseball season.

He hasn't used the holodecks in a while. Akito has been taking up a lot of his free time, and while he's fine with that the kid has started getting on his case about brooding too much. Peggy's been gone for a month now. She's probably not walking through his door again, and that's a good thing -- for her. It just reminds him of what he's missing.

To stave off any ill-conceived attempts to set him up on dates or push him around to other people, Steve has left Akito to his own devices for a few hours. He didn't really have a goal in mind when he ended up at the holodeck. He thought maybe he'd stop in Ten Forward for something to eat, but his feet just kept going after he reached the lounge, and didn't stop until he was standing in front of the computer panel currently telling him the holodeck was vacant. He frowns for a few minutes.

"Computer, um. Are there any baseball fields on file?" he asks. The computer gives him an affirmative answer, and starts listing off more baseball fields than he knows what to do with. "Whoa, wait. Uh, sorry. How about Ebbets Field?" Another affirmative, and another long list of options. Steve rubs the back of his neck. "OK. Ebbets Field, Flatbush, New York, Earth, around the year..."

He thinks back over some of the games he's seen, but he doesn't feel up to taking a walk down memory lane tonight. He's tempted to ask about the 1920 World Series, but as he's forming the words another thought occurs to him. "April 15, 1947. Jackie Robinson's first game with the Dodgers."

There is another affirmative chirp, and at last the Computer says, "You may enter when ready." Steve pockets his hands and steps inside the holodeck doors, and with such shocking clarity it almost knocks the wind out of him he finds himself in the bleachers at Ebbets Field, just as he remembers it.

Tom was in front of one of the replicators in Ten Forward, doing a favor for the crew and guests of the Enterprise. He was programming in leola root stew. And then maybe if they were lucky he'd get to leola root casserole, tart, tea and leola root rice pilaf. Really, the alpha quadrant didn't know what they were missing, and Tom was determined to expose them to it. They needed to suffer every bit as the Voyager crew. Too bad Enteprise's replicators were working and no one was forced to eat it.  Maybe he could do something about that, it would be a learning experience for them. He'd be exposing them to other alien cultures! Wasn't that their mission?

"Computer, One cup of leola root stew, hot."

Picking it up and tasting it, Tom grimaced.

"I had forgotten how truly disgusting this stuff is. Might need more mildew though...."

And then Tom looked around for B'Elanna to have her taste it. Seven should be thrilled she always stuck to nutritional supplements on Voyager and as thus Tom couldn't subject her to his little experiment.

Tom grabbed the nearest person he could find, offering the bowl. "Do me a favor. Taste this." And held the cup up to them.

There had been many things Lieutenant Worf envisioned for himself upon his promotion to Chief of Security. Herding humanoid interlopers into organized groups and assigning them permanent residence aboard the Enterprise was, to say the least, not among them. After regrouping from their time at Alemar III, Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a number of new visitors for ship-wide access, which means it falls upon Worf's shoulders to assign them quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. He has gathered everyone in Ten Forward to impart this vital information.

As he has done this before, he has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

Something strange begins to happen underground. Those pretty, glistering crystals that twinkle from the walls and ceilings start to move, sinking down into the rock, and disappearing from all sight. In each cave and cavern, every arching ceiling and cramped tunnel, they all vanish.

The main cave where the visitors were brought during the tour feels darker now. It has weathered the trauma of the last three days better than some places, but that's all about to change.

[ooc: And welcome to the kickoff of our final leg of the Alemar III plot! Day 3 has officially begun, which means all team posts moving forward should reflect that. Below, this post is split into two sections: the first is for any teams or individuals who want to establish themselves as being in the main cave for the final action of the plot; the second is for our teams of fighters and all who wish to assist them. Bear in mind that the historians and empaths won't step in to reveal what's going on until the next group post; this is primarily for the last battle and gathering all the fractured teams back together. If you're not sure where your group is, check in with your plotting e-mails or the plotting post; if you don't want to join the main group until the fighting stops, the next post will also have a place for your characters to enter and reconnect with friends. If there are any questions, leave them in the plotting post and a mod will get back to you asap!]

The highlight of yesterday was they were able to meet up with another trapped group. A couple familiar faces for Shotaro, even if one of them was pretty badly injured. But the problem still stood that they were miles underground, far from rescue.

Provisions were slim, just whoever had found themselves wanting to bring some snacks with them from upstairs. He was strong enough to go without for a while. He was far from the worst off.

Sleeping had been a pain, literally. He'd propped himself against a boulder to try to get some sleep. His arms had been worked to their limit on digging. After one last check-in with Philip, he finally passed out.

That morning, he was awoken by the screeching and whining of company. The very walls themselves were shaking, cracking, and merging into the middle. In the process, fresh rocks tumbled all around. "Head's up!" he shouted. His breath caught, and he coughed against the dust.

He sidestepped some crystal tumbling along the ground. It was all forming into the middle into a long, squat salamander shape. While he hadn't yet put together the enormity of what was coming together around them, he had a solution for it. Just so long as Philip was awake, and his body could hold out. Being injured and exhausted had never stopped him before, and it wasn't going to now.

"Philip! I've got trouble down here!" He said, putting his belt in place. Immediately his hand went in his waistcoat after his trusty Joker. "Long time no see," he said to himself.

The last place he wanted to be when the earth shook like that was underground. But maybe, just maybe, after that first shake that was all they were in for.

It was not to be. As the world came down around them, he ducked and covered his head. Through the dust and falling rocks, he didn't see that fairly sizable stone coming down toward him. He let out a shout of pain when it made impact. He rolled over onto his side and scrambled away from the rock, in case more were coming. Fortunately, it was a glancing blow. A stone that size could have hurt him a lot worse if it had hit him squarely.

He stayed curled up until the shaking stopped, and the last pebbles settled. He patted his vest. It didn't seem like anything critical had been damaged.

Time to see how the others had fared. He called out to the room at large. "Oi--ow!" he wrapped his arm around his chest. Okay, that really hurt. The black of his vest and pants was muted by the settling dust as he pushed himself to his feet. "Everyone alright?"

He had someone else to check on, too. He pulled out the Stag Phone, jabbed a button and put it to his head. He was rewarded with a loud, shrill shriek and he jerked it from his head. Okay, that was weird. He started pushing pseudo memories into it, the flying blue Bat Shot, and the skittering yellow Spider Shock. "Go find anyone else in trouble," he told them.

While he did that, he experimented a bit with breathing in a way that wasn't painful while he looked around the smaller space that had been the large main room. Nothing but rocks. He took a few steps around the rock that had wounded him. "Anyone else out there?"

"Welcome, everyone, to geothermal field two-nine-one," Dr. Johanna Sk'Amor says, once everyone has gathered in the entryway.

The shuttlebay the group has just left is behind them, while the large entrance to the facility is directly ahead. The building is quite spacious, and despite the high volume of visitors no one is cramped for space while standing here. It's like a museum lobby, with fixtures in the center of the room and wings on either side. While the design is not as bright and clean as the Enterprise, the high ceilings and white walls give a feeling of spaciousness. To the right is the main observation room, where the convex wall making up one full corner of the drilling facility is primarily floor-to-ceiling windows. The vistas beyond are stunning: tall, grey mountains and low valleys, all covered with snow. To the left is a winding staircase that leads to an upper level, and beyond that are several labs.

"This is one of five scientific outposts located on Alemar III," the doctor continues. "At one time we had seven, but two have been destroyed by earthquakes. Alemar III is highly geologically active, so our remaining facilities have been reinforced to withstand even the most devastating natural disasters. There's nothing to worry about, our engineers are some of the best in the quadrant, but if you feel some tremors while you look around just keep in mind that this is normal.

"Two of our outposts are at the polar north and south of the planet, while the other three, this one included, are evenly spread across the globe. Our staff is small, only about ten scientists and five archaeologists, and enough engineers to keep everything in working order. In all, the entire planet only has about ninety occupants at any given time. It's rare that we're able to entertain guests.

"If you'll follow me, I'll show you some of the work we accomplish here."

[ooc: This post is open to those who signed up for our game plot only! As it's being run party post style, all characters are encouraged to tag in and mingle; since teams have not been divided yet, any participating character can tag anyone else, you don't have to stick only to those on your teams. You may also tag in as many top level threads as you choose if you're doing the full tour, just be sure your character ends up in the room where their team will be positioned for the rest of the plot (for those who will be divided in the mines due to cave-ins, the main mine connects to many other rooms and alcoves, so simply tag in under the Main Mine subheading and have your characters move around the different passageways to explore. Wherever rocks fall, that's where the rooms will be divided). Threadhopping and backtagging are encouraged! This post will remain open for as long as it takes all characters to tag in.]

Rhade was confused to say the least. Maybe it was all the alcohol. His memory of events was a bit blurry. He remembered hauling ungrateful evacuees into the Maru. That was fun. Who tries to cut in line during an evacuation? It was simply stupidly suicidal. That's why you're not supposed to run en mass during a fire. Panic was bad. Combine panic with inbred, stupid crazy people and it was a shit storm waiting to happen. But that was why he was there. That and to protect Beka, even against her wishes if necessary.  But, no matter. That he remembered. He even remembered going into the bar on Seefra 1 and helping himself to a bottle or two. Or three. Harper had tried to talk him out of it. It was the thought that counts, misguided as it was.

What did Harper know about loss? About a loss so deep that it would shatter a Nietzschean's soul. The loss of his wife, his children. Probably his pride, the Commonwealth. They were all dead. Weren't they? He didn't know for sure, but what other result could there be. The World Ship was coming. He'd been on Seefra for 9 months. The Known Worlds were gone. Everything he loved and fought for was gone. Everything except the liquor and this hell hole of a system. No, not a system. The universes largest fly trap. You can come in, but never come out again.

What he definitely remembered was Harper trying to hit him with a bar stool. Then things went fuzzy and Harper really was hitting him with a bar stool. Telemachus remembered being on Andromeda, Rommie mentioning casually that his blood alcohol level was, well, rather high. And then? What he didn't remember was how he got here.

In this bar. With air conditioning and good food and ice. Lots of drinks with lots of ice. It was clean too. Unlike him.

"You know what?" Rhade looked around. "It doesn't even matter anymore." Seefra? This place? He wasn't home. It didn't matter where he was anymore. He was lost, and all that was left was to bury the broken pieces of his soul.

"Whatever. Someone get me a drink."

But she did discover the martial arts area of the gymnsaium.

So today she's disliking it with a sheen of sweat, solid foot work and several hard, full out, punches into a bag.

Jim's been telling you this joke for what seems like forever now. Maybe you were curious. Maybe you asked him for it. Or maybe he sprung it on you - poor, unsuspecting you, who had no idea what you were about to witness. Whatever the case, for the last twenty minutes, he has been spinning an epic tale of murder, incest, genital mutilation, coprophilia, necrophilia, taco salad, and every other manner of depravity that could ever be envisioned by man (plus a few you rather wish man hadn't thought of). He's been telling it quite enthusiastically, too. Who knew there were so many hand gestures to indicate things getting shoved into other things?

"...And I hate to tell ya, but there were a LOT of survivors in Cleveland that day.

"Now the agent is just stunned, he can't even say anything. Then finally he says 'That was incredible. I don’t even know what you'd call an act like that!"

"'I call it...the Aristocrats!'"

He spreads his arms with a flourish and smiles expectantly. Feel free to react accordingly.

This again. Lieutenant Worf is thrilled to have even more riffraff aboard. He had hoped Q's interference would have been dealt with by this point, and the influx of strange and... disagreeable passengers stopped. So it is with aggravation that he gathers the new "guests" together in Ten Forward to instruct them on correct behavior and protocols now that they have been released from quarantine. It is his duty, and the captain's instructions, so he will handle this in the honorable way.

As he has already done this once, he has a prepared speech:

[ Just before ... ]

The doors slide open, as spaceship doors do, to a truly interesting array of characters sitting, chatting, eating and drinking within this space Lieutenant Barclay referred to as 'Ten Forward'.

Rose had been curious to see just who Q had chosen to bring onto this ship; and while she won't really know anything until she starts to talk to people, she's quite certain it'll be difficult to spot a pattern - if there is one.

One thing's for sure, though. She's glad the Doctor is here with her. He's her tether of familiarity, which is actually a bit funny, considering how ... not afraid, but wary? she'd been of him in the very beginning when he'd changed faces. And now? Now she's glad for this face. She feels safe with this face, the way she'd felt safe with his previous (maroon jumper, leather jacket wearing) one.

"So this is it," she says as the Doctor comes to stand beside her. "The people Q's chosen for whatever he's got planned. And then us."

She wants to take his hand right now, as something like a reassurance, maybe, but she won't.

New guests have arrived on the Enterprise, and that means Lieutenant Worf and his security detail are busy once again bringing them to see Dr. Crusher. Sickbay isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. All of the medical personnel, in fact, look harmless. Well, perhaps excluding the sun avatar, but Trance Gemini is as skilled as the Starfleet officers.

"All right, come in," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Don't be shy. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

Probably.

[ooc: Same rules as before: this is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Julian Bashir, Bones McCoy, Trance Gemini, and Beverly Crusher on deck, so if you have a preference please specify it in the subject line of your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

It's been rough going over in Rock Ridge. Hedley's band of thugs, rapists, and insurance salesmen are poised to run roughshod over the whole town. Sure, maybe Bart has his foolproof Wile E. Coyote plan. Sure, maybe his confidence in the townsfolk is absolute - they're professionals, after all. And sure, maybe he's read the script and knows literally everything that's about to happen. But that doesn't make the tension any less palpable and exhausting. Mr. Brooks is a very demanding man.

So he's taken advantage of a scene change to duck over to the studio commissary to get himself a snack. This is hungry work, after all. He grabs what he needs - a Diet Coke and some chips - and eats it on the go.

He's not especially surprised when he winds up somewhere other than the set of Blazing Saddles. It wouldn't be the first time - he'd been to Milliways and to John Marston's world. He is a bit more surprised when he realizes that this is a very different somewhere-else than the one he's used to. One where there are people wearing oddly familiar uniforms.

"Huh. Seems I've wandered over to the Paramount lot."

[[OOC: Anyone and everyone whose character might conceivably recognize the Waco Kid is free to do so. His canon comes already punctured. It's that kind of movie. (I also figure that anyone who'd be punctured by what he just said would have no idea what it meant - PM me if you disagree, and if even one of you does I'll change it).]]
